We all long to live full and satisfying lives. Sometimes, however, we hit a dead end, or feel stuck in patterns that sabotage the quality of life we long for. As much as we’d like to bring about the needed changes on our own, sometimes we need outside help. Calling on a therapist is not a sign of weakness. On the contrary, making use of the trained skills of a professional is a sign of strength, courage, and the desire to invest in yourself.
During the initial session, we will talk about what brought you to therapy. We’ll define your goals and the issues you want to address. In the case of couple and family sessions, each person will be asked to share their perspective. I will ask questions about the problem to develop a deeper understanding, and may ask questions about other issues, individual histories, and solutions you’ve already attempted. Subsequent sessions will focus on reaching your goals along with addressing obstacles and conflicts that arise along the way.
Sessions are usually 50 min long. That can be extended particularly for people who travel from out of town.
We usually start meeting on a weekly basis and then space sessions further apart as things improve. Weekly sessions allow for addressing important issues and maintain a sense of continuity through the process. The frequency of sessions, however, is flexible and is based on your needs.
The duration of therapy varies greatly from person to person and depends on your goals and the issues you want to address. Your goals will be defined during our first session.
Payments can be made either by email transfers at the end of each session.
